Millions of kids went summer camp this year for two great weeks of canoeing, midnight campfires, archery and sneaking into the "girls" camp after dark. The memories are sweet and the friendships as strong as the smell of mosquito repellent -- and most of the kids have forgotten the weeks leading up to the first day of camp. Do you remember fighting your parents before heading off to Camp Running Bear when you were seven? Why do parents do it? Why do they force their children to go to camp amid tears and protests?
Because it is good for their children to step out of their comfort zone to have great new experiences.
